Day 4 of the Christmas book countdown and I have a book to share that is silly, simple, familly-filled, and has a clever take on gift-giving and expectations. Here is The Christmas Box by Eve Merriam, illustrated by David Small, 1985.
25 Days of Christmas Books 2015
Day 3 of our Advent countdown brings a vintage book that I eagerly sought out this year. It is actually a Little Golden Book with six short stories about Christmas. And best of all, Richard Scarry did the illustrations! Allow me to share a bit of The Animals’ Merry Christmas by Kathryn B. Jackson, pictures by Richard Scarry, 1958.
For the second book in our 25 Days of Picture Books 2015, I am making this post do double duty and combining a Christmas book with Wordless Wednesday. As such, this post will be a bit longer than my usual Christmas countdown posts, but it also includes an interview with the author herself! Let’s jump in. Here is Carl’s Christmas by Alexandra Day, 1990.
For the first book in this 2015 Christmas countdown, I am so excited about this new book! It is a hilariously humorous book about Christmas from the eyes of a girl who doesn’t get to celebrate it. Here is Dear Santa, Love, Rachel Rosenstein by Amanda Peet & Andrea Troyer, illustrated by Christine Davenier, 2015.
December 1 has arrived and it is time to celebrate the coming of Christmas with an advent of sorts. Continuing my tradition for its fourth year, I am now kicking off the 25 Days of Christmas Children’s Picture Books, 2015! I have quite a selection of brand new, vintage, and in-between Christmas picture books to share. I will do my best to keep each day short with just a quick post about the book and a picture or two. I hope you’ll read along.
