Let’s Read Three: Summer Fruit Books!

FruitThreeTitle

One of the many things that I love about living in NYC is that summer actually lasts through August. So even though my social media feeds are flooded with friends’ back-to-school pictures and posts, we still have a month of summer left. Hurrah! And I was even more delighted when we recently arrived back from vacation and discovered that our favorite summer fruit was still in season and well-priced. Double hurrah! This calls for a post. A Let’s Read Three post about summer fruit books, of course.

These three are some of our favorite books, that include fruit too. Jamberry would definitely be a friend to this group. Two of them are vintage and most likely classics in some houses. The third is a book that I have meant to post for a couple years now. It’s time. Let’s read some fruit books! Read the full post…

Happy summer everyone! Well, Western Hemisphere friends that is. I was hoping to post these summer books on the actual first day of summer two days ago; but alas, summer came bounding in with a summer cold for me. Nevertheless, I am excited about the warm months and the many lovely things it holds. We started our summer bucket list and are definitely looking for lots of summery literature to fill our thoughts and dreams. These three are all vintage, simply because they came to mind first and are just lovely favorites. Let’s read three books about summer! Read the full post…

Book Review: Goodnight Songs – A Celebration Of The Seasons By Margaret Wise Brown

GoodnightSongsSeasons 1

Although books about the seasons are lovely reading any time of year, there is something about the coming of autumn and all the changes it brings that feels even more appropriate for reading about the seasons. Fall is my favorite season, but I am always willing to ponder the things to love about every season. And luckily, we have a gorgeous new book out this August that provides not only stunning imagery, but includes beautiful songs originally written by Margaret Wise Brown.

This is the second collection of songs released, the first collection I am ashamed to say I have not seen and completely missed when it came out. I will be looking it up immediately as I am smitten by this second book. Allow me to share Goodnight Songs – A Celebration of the Seasons by Margaret Wise Brown, illustrated by twelve award-winning picture book artists, 2015. Read the full post…

Book Review: Circle of Seasons By Gerda Muller

Seasons 1

Happy October everyone! While some are already whipping out the Halloween decorations with spooky creatures, carved pumpkins, spider webs and more; I plan on focusing a little more on fall. We’ll look at some great monstery type books as the end of the month nears.

For today though, I’m going to do something a little different with a book review and only focus on a portion of the book. I discovered this lovely little creation fairly recently and found the fall portion to be especially perfect for sharing. The rest of the book is excellent too, I promise, but let’s give fall its full due. Maybe sometime we’ll “circle” back for the others. So here we have a few pieces of the fall section from Circle of Seasons by Gerda Muller, 1995. Read the full post…
